MPS Athletics for 2018-19

ATHLETICS PROGRAMS FOR 2018-19

Fall Registration for High School Athletics Begins August 1st from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Host High Schools.  Turn in completed 2018-19 athletic forms (located in the Forms tab) to your high school athletic director.

Middle School Athletic Programs have been shifted to Community Education.  Please contact Community Education for additional information. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board also provides opportunities for youth athletic programming; contact your local park for schedules and registration.

We encourage families to get no cost athletic physicals through School Based Clinics this summer. Appointments can be scheduled directly with your school's clinic.

MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL PARTNERHIPS

MPS High school athletic programs are open to all MPS students in grades 7-12.  Students in 7th and 8th grade may participate in their home high school attendance area or at their "partnered" high school.  Please contact the District Athletic Office with any questions (612)-668-0600.

COOPERATIVE SPONSORSHIPS

Students at FAIR, Heritage Academy and Wellstone International will have access to the entire array of high school programming through the expanded use of Cooperative Sponsorships (Edison/Heritage, Patrick Henry/FAIR, Roosevelt/Wellstone). And students in grades 7 and 8 may participate in high school programs per Minnesota State High School League rules. NOTE: Transportation to practices is not provided by the district.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided to practices for any student in any grade, but is provided to games with pickup and drop off at the partner or community high school. The same transportation policy applies to middle school students participating in sports still available at middle schools for grades 6-8. Transportation to and from middle school games is provided from the student’s school to competitions, but not practices.
