MPS Athletic Department Updates for 2018-19 School Year

What will be different in the 2018-19 School Year?

Ticket Price Adjustment – All High Schools

  • Adults - $6.00
  • MPS Staff - $4.00 (student ticket)
  • Senior Citizens - $4.00 (student ticket)
  • Students (Not from host school) - $4.00
  • Students (from host school) - $2.00 must show MPS Student ID
  • Children under age 7 are free.  

Discount Cards are sold at all schools. Adult cards are $40 for 10 entrances. Students cards are $25 for 10 entrances.  

Special Promotional Events – Host Schools may select one “free” entrance event per sport for students enrolled at their school. These dates are selected by the school administration.

District Director Update

  • Position closed; application review and interviews being conducted

Middle School Athletics

  • Programming shifted to Community Education: Coed Soccer (Fall); Boys/Girls Basketball (Winter)

High School AD Job Restructure

  • High School ADs off the month of July and last two weeks in June
  • High School ADs report to High School Principal and work in collaboration with District Athletic Office

2018-19 Fall Registration

  • August 1st @ Host High Schools (Edison, Henry, North, Roosevelt, South, Southwest, Washburn
  • August 2nd Fall Coaches In-Service @ Davis Center 4:00 p.m.

Participation Fee Increase

  • Hockey - $240 (increase will go toward ice time bill)
  • Football - $90 (increase to offset protective equipment costs)
  • All Other High School Sports - $75 (increase to offset transportation, officials, supply and equipment costs)
  • Middle School Sports - $45 (Fees to Community Education)

Students on Free/Reduced lunch pay 1/3 participation fee - No Fee Waivers - Family maximum is $750

To ensure that all schools have adequate funding for athletics, 10% of full-pay, school-generated student participation fees will be distributed across the schools.

Data Collections

  • Consistent software for data collections starting in the 2018-19 school year.
  • RFP in development stage to potentially implement online registration
