The earliest forms of bowling can be traced to ancient Egypt.  Remnants of ancient bowling balls have been dated as coming from 3200 B.C.E.  The game was played outdoors until 1840 when the Knickerbocker Alleys opened in New York City.

Currently, only one season did a school offer Bowling as an interscholastic sport.
