Women’s LaCrosse Overview
LaCrosse is a truly American game. It was developed by the Iroquois of what is now the Northeast part of the United States and Southeast Canada. Some have speculated that it may have been created as long ago as 1100 A.D. The sport spread to many other Native American cultures before the arrival of Europeans.
LaCrosse is the newest of the sports in Minneapolis. It began as a club sport, in 1998-1999 and then became a Minnesota State High School League sponsored sport in 2006-2007. All Minneapolis schools are combined into one team representing the district.
