MPS Middle School Sports

The Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) Athletic Department offers over 57 Middle School Athletic Programs for students in grades 6-8. Our offerings include Coed Soccer in the Fall, Boys and Girls Basketball in the Winter and Track & Field/Flag Football (Girls) in the Spring. Click the links (on right of the screen) to complete registration and payment to gain clearance from your School Athletic Director prior to being allowed to participate. The seasonal practices have the following start dates:

Fall Sports: Registration Window - July 1st through October 7th

Coed Soccer - September 7th, 2022

Winter Sports: Registration Window - November 1st through January 18th

Boys Basketball - December 2nd, 2022

Girls Basketball - December 2nd, 2022

Spring Sports: Registration Window - March 1st through May 19th

Girls Flag Football - April 10th, 2023

Track & Field - May 1st, 2023

TRANSPORTATION POLICY

Transportation is not provided to practices for any student in any grade. Transportation may be provided to away games with pickup and drop off at a MPS high school or predesignated location. The same transportation policy applies to middle school students participating in high school sports.  If parents are not comfortable with their child riding District provided Transportion they must have a completed a transportation waiver (link on right of screen) with the building Athletic Director at their school and notify their coach that they will not be riding District transportation to away contests.
